Isla gathers Oro, Enya, Zed, Calver, and Azul to share the news about the sword. She tells them everything about her history with Grim and her memories coming back. They conclude that Grim has found the sword and is using it to attack Lightlark with the dreks. Desperate, Isla then goes back to the serpent woman to ask her to fight in her army, but the latter refuses again. Isla then goes around the isles to search for other creatures, and, as Remlar predicted, most of them choose to follow her.

A new flashback depicts Grim and Isla visiting a field of flowers on Nightshade. Grim tells her that it is nightbane, which Nightshades use to make a harmful drug while Wildlings make it into a healing elixir. Isla makes a deal with Grim for Nightshade to provide the flowers and hearts to the Wildlings in exchange for more of the elixir. Grim is then forced to leave when he senses a drek attack in his realm.

The next morning, Lynx sends a vision to Isla, asking her to come to Wild Isle urgently. All the Wildlings have disappeared, along with the healing elixirs they were making, and Isla finds a note in the Wildling castle.
