ACTIVITY: “Mikage’s Dream Kitchen”
Mikage speaks of her dream kitchen, noting that she will have many over her lifetime. As a whole class or in groups, come up with a list of what Mikage might have in her dream kitchen, staying focused on elements of her character and her stated preferences from the novel.
Teaching Suggestion: This activity will help students think about character motivation and character traits from a different perspective. It might be useful to first work together to develop a list of Mikage’s traits that students can refer to as they work.
