  • Choose a hip-hop artist or crew from the past or present. Focus on this single artist or crew for your project.
  • Be sure to include key political events showcased in Can’t Stop Won’t Stop (Young Adult Edition).
  • Cite the artist’s rap lyrics, community involvement, and world activism.
  • Incorporate the artist’s unique style in your slideshow or infographic with images or original drawings.
  • Include citations for your sources.

Teaching Suggestion: This project will help students connect the entertainment aspects of hip-hop to the community service and activism goals of the artists. Having students present their projects to the class can also expose students to the variety of styles and messages that exist under the genre umbrella of hip-hop.
